Bexhill and District Gardens and Allotments Society

FROM the Thames to the South of England Show, the Isle of Man to Borde Hill, Bexhill and District Gardens and Allotments Society members have a lot to look forward to in 2009.

Chairman, Dick Lancaster, has just announced the trips he has arranged for next year. Members will, as usual, be going to see Holiday On Ice at the Brighton Centre next month and the annual eight-day holiday in April will be to the Isle of Man. During their stay, members will visit Laxey, Ramsey, Peel, Port Erin, Castleton, Tynwold Mills and Cregneash Village.

There is already a waiting list for places on the 355 holiday. Many members booked for 2009 as the coach was returning from this year's holiday - without knowing what Dick was in the process of planning for them but anxious not to miss out on the treat!

The March day trip will be to Westminster and will include a river cruise to Greenwich, a visit to the Thames Barrier and the Royal Artillery Museum at Woolwich Arsenal.

Members will be going to Exbury Gardens in May, to the South of England Show in June and to Borde Hill Gardens and the Royal Horticultural Society gardens at Hyde Hall in two July trips.

A new venue has been booked for next year's annual flower and produce show. The society is moving from Bexhill Leisure Centre to Bexhill High School's Down Road campus for the August 23 event.

The society's annual meeting will be at Bexhill Leisure Centre at 7.30pm on Friday, February 20, when trophies from the annual allotments competition will be presented. The speaker after the business will be Geoff Hutchinson. Geoff, always popular with the society, will talk on The Diary Of Thomas Drew.
