Bexhill Association of National Trust Members - May 9

THE Bexhill Association of National Trust Members met on April 12 for the last of its winter series of lecture meetings at which Mr Christopher Rudd gave a fascinating talk on the parks and gardens of London.

With 359 parks, including nine Royal parks, open to the public since 1851, he could cover only some of them and his illustrated tour gave us a scenic view of such well-known sites as Covent Garden, Temple Gardens, Gough Square, Hampstead Heath, Regents Park and Tavistock Square. He also included a visit to the intriguing eccentricities of Highgate Cemetery.

The next event in the social calendar of the Association is the Spring Coffee Morning and Plant Sale on Saturday, May 10 at the Little Common Community Centre from 10am to noon.

This event will be open to the public for an entrance fee of 1 to include coffee and biscuits. In addition to the popular plant stall there will be other stalls for books and jigsaws, products of the craft circle, a gift table, tombola and a collection of original paintings by a local artist.

Before we resume the season of lecture meetings on Saturday, October 11 there will be a number of events through the summer like outings, garden coffee mornings, the Association holiday to Norwich and a luncheon at Barnsgate Vineyard.
