Bexhill Down Afternoon Townswomen's Guild

MEMORIES were tested to the utmost by Question Master Mr David Sheppard, at the Guild quiz in October.

It was really a Fun and Friendship Day and we were pleased to welcome Townswomen from Meads, Holywell and Little Common Guilds.

As well as the quiz everyone enjoyed lunch, provided by the committee, with a glass of wine, and tea and biscuits in the afternoon. Mr John Gallagher did a sterling job, keeping score.

History of Bexhill was brought to life at the Social Studies meeting, by Mr Julian Porter of Bexhill Museum. With maps, photographs and commentary we saw how the town has evolved and the influences of the De La Warr and Brassey families.

Ramblers took advantage of the October sunshine to explore Shinewater Park. One might be forgiven for thinking that "fabric" would be an uninteresting subject for "Reading for Pleasure", but the opposite proved to be true. So much information was discovered about wool, cotton, silk, etc, plus.

From London's East End, to the West End and "Driving the Stars" was the subject of Mr Denis Williams talk to the Guild in November.

Next meeting, 2pm, Wednesday, December 12 at Friends Meeting House, Albert Road.
