Cooden Millennium Afternoon Townswomen's Guild - July 18

ON Wednesday, July 2 the chairman, Mrs. Kaye Murphy, welcomed the ladies to a social afternoon, and explained that we had altered the layout of the hall in the hope that it would make it easier to get around the various tables and that members would all be able to hear the business more clearly.

Members were sorry to learn that Pam Phippard and Margaret Vinter were both poorly and also Freda Appleyard because that meant that there would be no joke for the meeting.

The Guild will be on holiday throughout August so there were 15 birthday cards to hand out!

Lois Halliday will be hosting the Garden Party on August 6 to which everyone is welcome, especially as there will be home made cakes.

After the group news we had our tea interval and then Mrs. Murphy introduced Cathy who owns the Wig Shop in our village.

Cathy explained how she had gone from painting finger nails to opening her wig / second-hand dress shop and if you knew that due to illness you would be needing a wig it was better to go into her before your treatment to select a wig nearest to your colouring. Jean Huggett was brave enough to model for Cathy and after the demonstration we all enjoyed trying on the various wigs and hairpieces.

At the end of a very happy afternoon the chairman wished members a happy August vacation.
