Jazz Fest free fringe

RYE International Jazz Festival is bringing some of the biggest names around to Rye but there are still plenty of quality acts you can enjoy for free over the bank holiday weekend.

The Ypres Castle Inn plays host to the festival’s outdoor music stage which is sponsored by the Old Dairy Brewery, Jazz Nights, On Stage and MC Glass. There will be free afternoon and evening performances from 3pm – 9pm. Saturday 24th August, Blues and beyond, Sunday 25th, Cool modern jazz and Monday 26th Funk and Swing.

The festival programme also features many free and ticketed events including street performances, semi acoustic sessions at both the Butter Market and the George in Rye and live jazz and blues at fringe venues such as the Queens Head, The Union Steak House, Old Borough Arms, The Ship Inn, Simply Italian, Ye Old Bell and Bailey’s restaurant and bar on Strand Quay.

Headline acts this year include The Kyle Eastwood Band, talented young singer and pianist Theo Jackson , Ian Shaw and the soulful Melissa James.

The Herbie Flowers Jazz Breakfast at the George has already sold out well in advance and tickets are selling fast for other performances.
