This will be held in Vinehall School next Saturday, July 9.

Louise is hoping to inspire and encourage amateur singers of all ages and abilities and says that if you don’t feel confident enough to able to sing in the masterclass, there is much that can be learnt by just watching and listening.

Audience tickets for the Vinehall afternoon are £5 each, the sessions begin at 1pm, with a break for tea and cake, and will end around 6pm.

Auditions for those wishing to take part in the masterclasses are being held at the Memorial Hall in Battle on Friday July 8 between 4pm and 9pm. The successful applicants will sing the following day at Vinehall School and again at the Day of Song in the Recital Room, Fairlight Hall, on July 30.

The audience tickets for that day are £10 and come with the invitation to picnic in the Hall’s beautiful grounds - which Louise thought would be ideal if several members of a group or choir came along together.

Louise Winter is currently performing at Garsington Opera as Madam Larina in Eugene Onegin and teaches at the Royal Northern College of Music. She was born in Lancashire and studied at the Royal Northern College of Music. She made her début in 1982 with Glyndebourne Touring Opera as Dorabella Così fan tutte and subsequently sang Tisbe La Cenerentola, Zerlina Don Giovanni, and Rosina Il Barbiere di Siviglia for the company.

Louise said: “There are so many choirs and groups singing in our area, I look forward to meeting people of all ages, be they experienced singers or new to the choral world, whether they can read music or not. I want to hear their stories, help them in any way that I can and share my joy of singing with them. Any money we raise will go towards improving the piano at the Memorial Hall. Battle, which is in constant use for rehearsals and performances by many local organisations.”
