“We are sure our latest teatime event will raise a smile or two - and get us all in the mood for plenty of fun at Christmas,” says the company’s resident writer and actor, Gill Medway. “In these rather gloomy and uncertain times, our audience needs the chance of a good laugh. That’s why this year’s programme, entitled All I Want for Christmas is a real festive frolic, featuring a wide range of poems and readings on a Yuletide theme. We’re mixing it up a bit this year, however, with the launch of two new sketches, especially written for the occasion by Russ Bravo and myself. Without giving too much away, halos, sparkly wands and broom handles could be involved!”

Audiences may remember Hurly-burly’s 2020 show, Christmas Crackers, performed to a socially distanced audience, in full accordance with Covid restrictions: “We just managed to fit the show in between lockdowns,” says Gill. “And we were surprised by how popular it turned out to be. But, of course, it’s so good to feel a whole lot freer this year. And the occasion wouldn’t be complete without a delicious, Christmassy afternoon tea.”

It’s all happening on Wednesday, December 7 at 3pm when Gill and Russ will be joined by actors Jane Ware and Liz Downes. “It’s a fun line-up,” says Gill. “So whatever may be on your Christmas list this year, Hurly-burly promises a smile, with the distinct possibility of mince pies. What more could you ask?” Tickets are £30, to include afternoon tea. Call 01903 230451 to book.
