Martin Hayes, the current owner, is investing heavily in the public house, which will be closed until Friday, July 25 while improvements are made.

Mr Hayes said: 'When we re-open we will have increased the trading space by 300% by adding a beautiful upstairs lounge area. It has been the case that  in busy times people struggle to find a seat to enjoy their drink, so we hope that these changes will make that a little easier.

'I'm really excited about the changes we're making to the pub and I can't wait to get the scaffolding down and re-open.'
