Friends of school celebrate years of hard work in style
Sharon Mercer, 46, of Abbey Road in Sompting, and Christine Vickers, 63, of Perveril Close, have been members of Friends of Sompting School (FOSS) for seven years.
But now Mrs Mercer’s daughter and Mrs Vickers’ granddaughter have finished their final year at the school and they decided it was time to depart as well... in style.

The pair have since become close friends themselves, joining FOSS to help support the White Styles Road school.
Through FOSS, the pair have worked with other parents to raise money for the school as well as organising summer fetes, christmas fairs, cinema trips and other fun events for the schoolchildren,
The group recently funded new playground benches and play equipment.

“We want to go out with a bang”, she added.
To that end the pair hired a 16 seat stretched limousine and dressed up as babies.
After the end of school disco on Thursday, Ms Mercer and Ms Vickers picked up Charlotte and Louise and 14 of their school friends and they went for a ride.
“It was a scream, basically”, said Ms Mercer.
The children rode around in style for an hour, before the limousine returned them to the school.
“The atmosphere was fantastic”, said Ms Vickers.

“The school itself is like an extended family”, Ms Vickers added. “The school’s just a fantastic place.”
