Rose Green pupils enjoy first-class trip to post office

Excited pupils from Rose Green Infant School have posted their first letters to Father Christmas.

The 90 four and five year olds took turns to buy a stamp from the local post office and pop their letter in the post box outside.

They walked in waves of 30 from the school in Hawkins Close to meet postmaster Mukesh ‘Mac’ Patel.

He gave each of them the right change which they promptly spent on a Christmas biscuit to eat in their classrooms.

They are now eagerly waiting for a reply from Santa Claus to be delivered to their home addresses.

Nikki Bramley, who is in charge of the Hawkins Close school’s early years, said: “The children absolutely loved going to the post office.

“A lot of them were practising how to ask for a stamp.

“It was the first time they had bought a stamp and posted a letter.

“Many of them didn’t realise you had to put a stamp on a letter and put it in a letter box.”
