Covid-19 deaths in Hastings and Eastbourne hospitals rise

A total of 76 people have now died with the virus at hospitals operated by the East Sussex Healthcare Trust, NHS England confirmed.

There has been a total of 33,614 Covid-19 associated deaths across the UK, Public Health England said.

The number of confirmed cases of the virus in East Sussex has risen to 652, Public Health England figures show.

Hastings still has the lowest rate of Covid-19 infections in England and Wales, according to the latest data, with 45 confirmed cases (a rate of 48.5 people per 100,000 people.

In West Sussex there have been 1,264 cases and another 404 in Brighton and Hove.

There have been 4,308 confirmed cases in Kent, according to Public Health England.
