A donkey, puppets and a cast of hundreds
THE annual Palm Sunday procession at St Mary's Church Goring was attended by several hundred people from the congregation and local community.
Following the Gospel reading and the blessing of the Palm crosses, the procession set off down Ilex Way to the Church led by Eli the Donkey. This year, three ten- foot puppets depicting Jesus and two of his disciples mingled with Celebration Samba and members of the Sunday school, Brownies, WAS and ZAPS youth groups.
Red and gold balloons bought colour to the proceedings and helped to give the morning a real carnival atmosphere. Over 300 people then filled the Church to hear a dramatized version of Mark chapter 11 by the ZAPS group and join in the special service.
