After all the stress of their GCSE exams over the past few weeks, more than 200 Year-11 students let their hair down in true Hollywood fashion, with the red carpet rolled out and the early evening sun beaming down.

A record number of photographers, family and friends gathered in eager anticipation of the arrival of the special guests.

And they certainly weren’t disappointed with the creativity of some of the teenagers’ transport and their stunning array of elegant dresses, tuxedos and fancy suits.

Everything from a gang of Minis to exotic sports cars, dirt bikes to push bikes and even a camper van and a converted ambulance – or ‘Funbulance’, as it is known – featured at the evening.

After arriving and posing for photos, the young revellers were then transported into an impressive ‘Arabian Nights-themed’ bedouin tent, decorated in gold, burgundy and purple with Moroccan lanterns and balloons, all in the school’s grounds.

Following food and dancing, the evening was topped off by a fabulous firework display on the school field before the party-goers all returned home for the evening.

Dave Atkins, assistant head of year, thanked everyone involved in making the event such a success.

He said: “What an amazing day, to see the students graduating the year as young men and women.

“They were full of energy and smiles as they walked the red carpet, with cheering crowds.

“It was an enjoyable evening that saw students lead dance moves, sing songs and culminated in an impressive firework display that finished their time at The Angmering School in style.”

He added: “The year group had been working very hard to become the most successful year group the school has ever had and we wanted to produce a prom that rewarded them for their efforts!”

Students now face an anxious wait until Thursday, August 22, when they will discover their GCSE results.
