A MAN who brutally attacked his best man and then set him on fire has been given a life sentence.

Wayne James Barnes (27), of Shelby Road, Durrington, was found guilty of attempted murder at Hove Crown Court last Tuesday.

He was told he would serve a minimum of 15 years after he attacked John Maynard (37) in Littlehampton on October 28 last year. After beating him so badly he fractured his skull, Barnes set fire to Mr Maynard.

He then left him for dead in the victim's flat in Pier Road, Littlehampton.
