Baird Court - demolition equipment

Demolition in readiness for the construction of 51 flats follows a protracted series of Rother planning committee debates.

The Society of Bexhill Museums was among objectors to the application. The society said in November 2005 that it was "absurd" that anyone should consider demolishing Baird Court considering the inventor's international significance.

The society contrasted the capital Hastings had made out of its Baird links.

John Logie Baird did much of his work while living in Hastings but is credited with patenting the first recording and playback machine and with wriing his autobiography while living in Bexhill before his death in 1946.
