Beach clean sweep

A SUCCESSFUL beach clean took place in Seaford on Saturday but instead of finding discarded needles and empty drinks cans, most of the 'rubbish' was wood.

Members of the public joined town councillors and members of the Seaford Community Partnership to form a 20-strong army of volunteers.

They worked tirelessly to clear the beach from the Martello Tower to Bonningstedt promenade.

Organiser, former Seaford Mayor Laurie Holland, said: 'It is now absolutely immaculate. I laid on brooms and all sorts and we collected 20 sacks of rubbish which was mostly wood, some of which had to be transported away by car..

Mr Holland said everyone's efforts were much appreciated.
