The Rye and District Association of the National Trust Saturday 23rd February 2013 By kind permission of the Mayor, Councillor Shaun Rogers, we are fortunate to be able to hold a ‘Meet and Greet’ event for members and friends at Rye Town Hall from 12.00 until 2.00 pm.Various displays will show our activities through the year and there will be refreshments and a tombola stall. Lions Aid Macmillan.Following Rye and District Lions successful seventh Burns Night Brass Band Concert in January at Beckley Village Centre, the Lions have donated £1,000 to Macmillan Cancer Support. Over the eight years that they have organised these concerts Rye Lions have donated a total of £7,350 to Macmillan.Over the last three years, the Lions have requested that the donation goes to the appeal that Macmillan is organising to build the Sussex Macmillan Cancer Support Centre. This Centre will be built in Brighton and will benefit thousands of people throughout East Sussex. Macmillan needs to raise £3.7 million and to date have raised £1,330,000. The Centre will offer specialist information, welfare benefits advice, counselling services, complementary therapies, a hair and wig service, dietary advice, self help and support groups.Any adult in the Rye area interested in having fun raising money for those less fortunate than themselves and enjoying monthly socials should contact Terry Cobby on 01797 252382 and more details of Rye Lions can be found at www.e-clubhouse.org/sites/ryedistrict/ .

Dog fouling isn’t just unpleasant, it’s illegal.
