Bexhill High fundraising for Gambian school

BEXHILL High has raised £700 to for the Don McMath Foundation School in the Gambia - the school's chosen international charity for the last year.

Charity spokesman Nick Marshall delivered an assembly explaining the money would be spent on equipment for science and ICT in the new upper basic school which provides free education for students aged between 14-17 from the poorest families in the Gambia.

The remainder of the money would be used to sponsor a student through the final three years of their education at the school.

Pastoral Manager Sue Wragg said, 'I specifically requested that some of the funds raised be used to sponsor a student. I am delighted to say that our sponsored student is Mustapha Mendy who is 13-years-old. We will be sponsoring him for three years to enable him to complete his education."
