Bexhill painter praised for Pevensey landscape

A BEXHILL painter was singled out for praise in the Battle and District Summer Arts Group Exhibition recently.

Anne Enefer, of Danecourt Close, Bexhill, was awarded Artwork of Choice by Expressions Art Shop by the President of the group for an acrylic work of Pevensey Marshes.

Anne said: "I was very elated. I've had a bad leg and that sort of gave me a bit of a boost."

279 paintings were exhibited at the group's annual exhibition in the Battle Memorial Hall, which raised money for St Michael's Hospice.

Exhibition sponsors choose their favourite works, whose artists are then given prizes.

Anne said of her work: "I liked it. I'm very critical of my paintings but I did like that one. I did a sketch from the landing at Hooe across the Pevensey Marshes. I was born near there you see."

Veronica King from Expressions Art Shop, Kings Road, St Leonards, said: "I think it's absolutely brilliant that they're encouraging the artists to these shows. Hopefully us sponsoring people will encourage a few more people to put their work forward."
