Bognor artist Rebecca Locke displays art work at London's ATP Gallery

Visual artist Rebecca Locke captures the experience of New York City in contrast to her roots in Bognor Regis in a new London exhibition.

Bognor is the backdrop for Rebecca's new work Brooklyn/Bognor. Her photographs depict the beauty of the English seaside, but hint at the uncanny, something of Brooklyn brought to Bognor, she explains.

Rebecca herself features in the images, wearing Brooklyn clothes in Bognor.

Rebecca lived in Brooklyn from 1998 to 2006, returning to study at London visual arts college, Goldsmiths.

This summer she has been making photographic images which define the beauty of Bognor: "The seafront, the bold colours of the bowling green, the regency architecture of a faded past, juxtaposed with the breath-takingly kitsch."

Her images of Bognor are featured as part of the exhibition Too Far South running until November 2 at the APT Gallery in Deptford.
