Bognor parking disc scheme success

OFFICIAL figures show 7,500 free parking discs have been sold in Bognor.

Town councillor Paul Wells said the popularity of the scheme which gives two hours of free parking had to be benefiting the town.

“A customer in my shop told me that Fitzleet multi-storey car park was full last Friday lunchtime. That has to be a first for many years,” Cllr Wells told Monday’s meeting of Bognor Regis Town Council.

The scheme was launched on December 1 and applies to the multi-storey off Queensway and Lyon Street car park. It involves drivers buying a disc for a £1 and displaying it each time they park. The town’s mayor, Jim Brooks said it was important to monitor the success of the discs to find out how well they were doing. The town and district council are each backing the discs.
