These will continue to be from 10am until 4pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. A drop-in system operates for most of the time.

Bureau manager Tony Mackown said: "We are changing our opening hours to enable members of the public who have daytime commitments to access face-to-face, free and totally confidential advice in the bureau."

The bureau is also extending its specialist services from next month to include free independent financial advice. This is being provided by a highly qualified independent financial advisor who will see clients referred to him by the bureau's volunteers.

Anyone interested in helping the CAB should contact Carol Birch on 01243 866233.
