Book now for free electric blanket tests

A FEW spaces still remain among the bookings for next week's free electric blanket safety testing arranged by Bexhill Caring Community.

Damaged electric blankets cause more than 5,000 house fires nationally every year. It is vitally important that these are tested annually and replaced if necessary.

Testing will take place in the hall behind the Caring Community offices in Sackville Road on Monday and Tuesday from 9.30am to 1pm and from 2pm to 4pm.

Appointments to have a blanket tested may be made by telephoning Bexhill Caring Community on 01424 215116.

Caring community organiser Margaret von Speyr said this week: "There are only a few spaces available now on either day so an early response is advisable and the service is free."

As well as the testing, a health, safety and information event is also taking place supported by The Pension Service, Casa Lifeline, Homecall, Hastings and Rother PCT, Rother District Council Housing Services, Office of Fair Trading, In Touch, Social Care Direct, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service. Free low-energy light bulbs will be available as well as an opportunity to have your blood pressure tested.

Refreshments, a raffle, tombola and bric-a-brac stall will also be available to help us to off-set the costs of this free service.
