Boxing night raises record cash

A record total of £9,000 has been presented after the best night of boxing in Bognor Regis for more than 25 years.

The profits from the charity sporting dinner were divided equally between Bognor Regis Amateur Boxing Club and the town's Rotary Club.

The presentation took place last week to Peter Stemp, the Rotarians' president with Peter Wells and Des Porter from the organising committee, and Dave Larner, from the boxing club.

Mr Stemp said: 'Some 350 diners enjoyed an excellent meal in new surroundings, for this event, though still within the Butlins campus.

'The new venue was popular with all and enabled more tables to be sold resulting in a record profit.

'Apart from the meal, the diners enjoyed probably the best boxing seen over the 25 years of the event. Demand for this year's event set for December 6 looks like making it another record year.'
