BOBs QUIZ: A massive thank you to the people of Brede and Broad Oak for turning out to the recent fundraising quiz night for BOBs held in Brede Village Hall. Over 80 people were there for a rip roaring evening of crazy questions set by quizmaster Graeme Dinning, and over £340 was raised towards new play equipment on the recreation ground at Broad Oak.

Brede Mothers Union Strawberry Tea: raised £90 for St George’s Church it was a very hot but pleasant afternoon and the tea offered by members was delicious. Their meetings are the 1st Wednesday of the month but they do not meet in August. However they would be delighted to have new members join in September. Friday 10 July: Yoga is at 9.30am in Udimore Community Hall. Brede Farmers Market is from 10am – 12 noon in Brede Village Hall. I noticed new stall holders in there the other week so they keep you on your toes with local wares on offer. Do go and see for yourself. If you are holidaying in the area you will find much of what you need especially if you are camping.; you might also find a unique present to take home. Brede’s Short Mat Bowlers set up at 7.30pm in Brede Village Hall.

Saturday 11 July: The Rye Singers will present A Summer Concert ‘On Wings of Song’ in St George’s Brede at 7.30pm Tickets £ 8.50 to include refreshments and they are available from Bobbie Boud 01424 882549 or Mike Iliffe 01424 882991 Rye Singers have kindly offered to do this concert entirely for Church funds. Please Support this event.

Sunday 12 July: The Church Services are as follows: Father Anthony White conducts the Mass service at 9.00 am in St Theresa’s Catholic Church on the old Northiam Road, if you need to contact the Father his number is 01424 773125 At St George’s Church Sung Eucharist starts at 9.30am and Father Martin can be reached on 01424 883408. Our Cricketers are in playing an away match today against Netherfield at their venue at 2pm. We wish our lads well.

Monday 13 July: Age Uk East Sussex – Brede Community Club begins at 10.30am – 3.30pm. She would be especially pleased to hear from you if you are phoning to join the group as it has some vacancies.

Drivers Urgently sought The group still urgently needs a voluntary driver to take clients to the Hall for 10am and then to return them to their homes later at 3pm.

Uniformed groups - The Guiding section meet in the small hall of Brede Village Hall; the Rainbows meet from 4.15- 5.15pm, they welcome girls aged between 5-7 years, the Brownies meet from 5pm – 6.30pm for girls 7-11 years old. The Huguenots in Rye & Winchelsea by Jo Kirkham The talk is part of the Huguenots Summer Celebration that is being held Worldwide. The venue is Rye Castle Museum East Street Rye and will cost members £2 and guests £3 Refreshments and a raffle available.

Wednesday 15 July: Pilates are in Udimore Community Hall at 9.15 and 10.25am. Vocality Choir is at 2pm also in Udimore.more people are very welcome to join them.

Open Garden another that you might enjoy is from 2pm – 5pm at South Grange, Quickbourne Lane, Northiam TN31 6QY is open on behalf of the NGS by the owners who are hardy plant members. They are inviting people to see their wildlife friendly garden for year round interest. They are also opening on Thursday 23 July for Demelza House Hospice Care for Children. 11am – 5pm Refreshments and a plant sale will be available on all days open. There will be another opportunity to visit this garden on 22 & 23 August from 11 to 5pm both days once again for the National Garden Scheme.

Grannies Attic would like all kinds of objects d’art antiques, china, knicknacks etc hopefully better than average, have a clear out and see what you can find. Plants & Produce is always popular so if you have any that can be sold please take them to the Church Friday 28th August or early Saturday morning Sally will be very grateful. Washing up, drying up and dishing up. Not all at once I hasten to add. There must be something in that lot that you could offer to help with, I know it will be gratefully accepted.
