A funding gift of £500 will help fund Felpham Community College’s reading across the curriculum initiative.

The money awarded to the school by Felpham Parish Council will be used to purchase books which can be enjoyed by pupils from all year groups.

Thanking the parish council for their generous gift, assistant headteacher Michelle Kelly, said she was looking forward to sharing the new reading materials with the students.

Ms Kelly added she hoped some of the students would find a book that would go on to become one of their firm childhood favourites.

Keen to embed a strong reading ethos into their students the Felpham Way school has already put into practice a number of reading initiatives which are designed to support, develop and challenge students.

These initiatives include everything from pupils reading each day to sixth form
reading mentors who support the school’s younger students.
