Cat brings home live rabbit

IT COULD have been a sketch taken straight from a Tom and Jerry cartoon when a Bexhill cat captured a baby rabbit and took him home as a present for its owners.

The rabbit is now residing at Chase vets, De la Warr Road and veterinary nurse Lin Burgeman said the young male angora rabbit is unharmed and doing well despite his ordeal. “He is well-groomed and is happy being held and groomed. He’s very bright and eating well.”

The cat’s owners didn’t know what else to do with the bunny and decided to take him to the local vets to be checked over. They are reported to have said that their beloved pet dragged the rabbit through the cat flap in their Hartfield Road area home and, as felines are prone to do, presented the bunny to them as a present.

Lin said the rabbit’s owners are probably wondering what’s happened to him and would no doubt like to have him back, adding: “He’s fine and well, there’s nothing wrong with him he just wants his mum.”
