Social Club: Catsfield Social Club is looking for new members. Do you enjoy Scrabble, Chess, Draughts, Cribbage or numerous other board and card games, a game on a wii, or maybe feel in need of a bit of fun and exercise with a game of table tennis? These and good company are available at Catsfield Village Hall every Tuesday evening between 7pm and 10pm. The charge is £2 an evening and includes refreshments.

‘Singing up a Storm’: Tickets are selling for Kimber’s Men when they appear at the Village Hall at 7.30pm on Saturday 21st February. It promises to be a great evening’s entertainment with stories and lively sea shanties, so buy your tickets soon priced £9 and £6 for concessions, by calling into the Catsfield Village Stores.

The Bishop of Lewes: Richard, Bishop of Lewes was welcomed to Catsfield last Saturday by about forty parishioners from the churches of St Laurence and St George, when he gave an interesting & enlightening talk about how Christians should approach the Old Testament. Everyone who attended was left with a better understanding of how to interpret parts of the bible and a great deal more to think about. Thanks to Jacqueline for feeding us all with a wonderful homemade lunch of soup and different types of bread and cheese.

WI Jumble Sale: The date of the Jumble Sale has been changed to Saturday March 7th from 10am-12pm. That’s only a month away, so how about doing some early spring cleaning and bringing your unwanted items to the Village Hall? This will help the WI raise money for their new charity for this year, the Air Ambulance service.

Poppy Appeal: Gwen would like to thank everyone who helped her by selling poppies last November, as well as all those who bought the poppies and gave so generously to the Royal British Legion’s annual appeal. The total raised was £421.47. Well done Gwen!

Sports News: Be careful what you wish for. After weeks of delays due to bad weather, we hoped for a dry pitch, well marked out, enthusiastic team and a victory against the old enemy Crowhurst. The pitch was playable, the rain came sweeping across the Playing Field, the very few spectators got extremely wet and we lost to a better team 1 - 6. We were awarded a penalty just before half time when the score was 0 - 2 and unfortunately we missed. From then on Crowhurst showed higher fitness levels and they now overtake us in the table. Tomorrow we play Wittersham at home, 2pm kick-off.

Catsfield’s Shopping Opportunities: Spring must be round the corner, Great Park Farm has re-opened with some welcome innovations, not least the much improved driveway and parking surface. We look forward to shopping there, as well as Redcoat, Bakers’ sausage shop and our wonderful Village Stores. Were you aware, they can offer more banking facilities in the Post Office?
