Children, parents and visitors to Dorset House School, in Church Lane, were treated to an inspirational talk by Jake Meyer.

Jake rose to fame – quite literally – when he became the youngest Briton to scale the world’s tallest peak aged 21 in 2005.

He was also the youngest man in the world to reach the globe’s seven highest summits.

As if this was not enough, Jake also told his captive audience how he holds the record for the fastest ascent of the highest mountain in each of the 48 contiguous USA states.

His talk was followed by a question and answer session. Pupils even got to try on his climbing suit.
