Police are appealing for witnesses to an attack on a woman in a Hastings park.

The 33-year-old victim was robbed by a man while walking her dog in Alexandra Park at About 6pm on Wednesday, June 10, said police.

A spokesman said: “The suspect is thought to have assaulted the victim before making off.

“He took her dog lead, possibly believing it to be a handbag, but no other items.”

Investigator Bernadette Peters added: “This was an awful incident which has left the victim understandably shaken.

“We are currently treating this as an isolated incident and are keen to hear from anyone who may have information.

“If you witnessed the assault or have any information that could assist with our investigation please report online or call 101, quoting 1319 of 10/06.”

A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and has been released under investigation while enquiries continue, said police.
