Arrests following alleged assault on 88-year-old village care home resident

Police are investigating an alleged assault on an elderly village care home resident, the force has said.

Officers said they were alerted by staff at a care home in Cowfold that an 88-year-old woman suffered cuts and bruising around lunchtime on Friday, July 29.

A police spokesman said a 55-year-old woman, from Henfield, and a 47-year-old woman, from Storrington, were arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Both have been bailed until October 27 while enquiries continue, officers added.
