Sea Cadets’ minibus vandalised

Horsham Sea Cadets suffered a setback when vandals damaged their minibus, taking off both of the wing mirrors.

With the minibus no longer road legal, they cannot use it to get to this weekend’s Sparks in the Park, or for a boating trip planned for Monday evening.

Although the charity has had kind offers of practical and financial help, their commanding officer Lt (SCC) Vicky Milligan told the County Times that they have a longer term plan to raise funds for a new vehicle, as the present one is getting expensive to MoT.

“We use it to take cadets boating in the summer and to competitions and on trips throughout the year,” she said.

“The last two outings were to the district rowing competition at Walton-on-Thames - where our girls’ team came second out of nine - and a trip to HM Submarine Museum Alliance in Gosport.”

The minibus is an 02 registered LDV Convoy panel van.

A crowdfunding campaign has been launched to repair or replace the minibus: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/replace-or-repair-horsham-sea-cadets-minibus#/story
