A spokesman for Sussex Police said a man in his 70s, who was known to the woman, also in her 70s, was arrested in connection with the incident and taken to hospital in a serious condition. The spokesman added that the man remains in hospital in a ‘serious but stable condition’.
Police said emergency services were called to an address in Watermill Lane, Sidley, at 1.45am on Saturday after concern for a woman in the property.
