Cuckfield Museum: reopens on Feb 18th after its winter closure with a new display, '˜From Boots to Bustles '“ costume finds from Sussex Attics', featuring items of costume which have been put away and kept by local families for sentimental reasons or because of their value. From a spectacular 1870's blue watered silk bodice and skirt designed to be worn over a bustle to a delicate wisp of a 1920's chiffon day dress, we look at the changing shape of women and the changes in their lives. Cuckfield Evening Women’s Institute: members came out on a cold evening to hear Andy Thomas give his excellent power point presentation on the history of Lewes, particularly Lewes Bonfire Night. He was thanked by Evelyn Stenning, who also won the Dorothy Upton Cup for getting the most points in the competitions. This was presented by Janine Watts. Janine also discussed future planned theatre outings. The next meeting is on February 21st at the Baptist Church at 7:30pm. The speaker will be Carole Andrews on Egyptian Women. New England Wood Trust: The Annual Public Meeting will beheld in Cuckfield in the Council Chamber of the Queen’s Hall on Tuesday 7 March 2017 promptly at 8.15 p.m. An opportunity for the people of Cuckfield to meet the Trustees and hear the Chairman’s report on the management of the wood and the successful launch of Cuckfield Woodlanders. All welcome.
