CHRISTIAN WOMEN'S FELLOWSHIP: The guest speaker at the last meeting was Diana Pilbeam who had entitled her talk "For the Beauty of the Earth". Diana is to be congratulated on how beautifully she illustrated her subject with excellent slides from photographs she had taken ranging from Pashley Manor at tulip time through Groombridge Place and Sheffield Park to ploughing with horses. One man ploughed with both teams of eight and 16 horses, a wonderful sight to see. Diana was very warmly thanked and left in no doubt that the ladies had thoroughly enjoyed her talk and slides.

The committee members will provide the refreshments for the Christmas meeting in December.

ART SALE: There will be an Art Sale and Exhibition on Saturday, December 1 and Sunday, December 2. This will be held in Battle Memorial Hall which is at the Abbey end of the High Street. Doors open to the public at 10am and close at 4pm on both days.

Entry is free as are the refreshments so do go along and support them and possibly find a picture you really would like to have in your home.

NINFIELD CARNIVAL: The committee have money they would like to donate to a village group who could make good use of it. If you are such a group please contact Lorna on 01424 893644 to discuss your idea.

As you will be aware the charity supported in the last two years has been the Sussex Air Ambulance and how generous they were able to be. The committee invite your suggestion for an East Sussex charity they could support next year. Please ring Lorna on 01421 893644 with your suggestions for this as well as a local group.

May I remind you that the carnival committee would also love to hear from anyone who feels they could consider organising a Spring Dance and/or New Year's Eve celebrations. In the past the carnival committee have worked hard to provide events for us to enjoy but they cannot continue to do this and rather than just stepping down and omitting these from Ninfield's social calendar are asking for your help. This would be one way of thanking them for Carnival 2008 and the May Day Pram Race which they will continue to do.

ST. MARY'S CHURCH: A reminder in church on Sunday morning that stocking fillers are still required for the tombola. It is hoped that items promised for the Mini Hamper have all been handed in already. Cakes and preserves were also requested.
