Children who want to witness an invasion of dragons are being urged to get down to their local library.

East Sussex County Council is launching a new dragon library membership card for children aged from eight to 11 years old in all its libraries on Thursday 29 May 2008.

National Year of Reading and we want to encourage children to enjoy books and discover the joy of reading. By becoming library members they will also benefit from all the other services on offer in their library such as free use of Internet computers."

Some libraries are putting on special dragon events to help celebrate the launch of the new card on 29 May. These include Bexhill Library which hosts 'The Dragons are coming' from 10.30am until 11.30am.

Rye Library in Lion Street has the same event from 2.30pm until 3.30pm, where you can indulge imagination by making a mobile dragon and other dragon designs,

while Hastings Children's Library in Robertson Passage is holding a fantastic dragon workshop from 10.30am until 11.30am.

Young people who are already members don't have to worry about missing out on the dragon fun either '“ they can come along to any of the dragon events and can swap their existing card for the new dragon card at any time on or after 29 May.
