A DRUNK man threatened to rape a female police officer as she and her colleagues tried to arrest him.

Prosecutor Sharon Howard said: "This incident took place at around 4.30pm.

"Police were called to assist an ambulance crew as it was dealing with a drunk man.

"Officers attended and noted that the defendant was extremely intoxicated.

"He said a number of things to the police."

Hastings magistrates heard that McLauchlan was calling officers "pigs" before they warned him about his language.

But the teenager, who works at McDonalds part time, continued to be abusive.

He told police, "You are not going to take me. You better watch your backs.

"I will get my boys down here."

He then told the female police officer to "watch out" or he would rape her.

In police interview McLauchlan admitted using abusive language and said he could not remember the incident.

He pleaded guilty to a charge of intending to cause harassment, alarm and distress.

Angela Durand, defending, said: "One of the first things the defendant said was that he wished he could see the police officers and say sorry to them.

"That was his own reaction.

"He regrets very much indeed what he said and was shocked to hear what he had said.

"He was very drunk and spent nearly 24 hours in custody.

"He lives in Bexhill with his adoptive parents and recently found out about his real parents.

"He was drinking at his real parents' home."

Magistrates gave McLauchlan a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered 43 costs.
