PRESERVATION SOCIETY: June Felstead has been invited along to talk about her work with the Sussex Search and Rescue Volunteers and their dogs, assisted by her talented and adorable border collie, Molly. June is a retired Paramedic, who got Molly at 12 weeks old, 5 years ago. She is a Border Collie (blue merle) and a family pet. Molly and June joined the team in 2011; Molly is now a nationally qualified search dog. The talk will take place in the East Hoathly Village Hall Friday February 12 at 7.30pm. Admission is free to members and guests welcome at £3 admission charge. For more information please call Toni Whewell on 01825 872460.

The next monthly walk will take place on Sunday, meeting at the Foresters at 2pm. The walk will be to Vert Wood, which has just been secured for the community. It will be muddy so please come prepared. Dogs are welcome but on leads place in case of livestock. For more details please call Chris or Jenny on 01825 872830.

SOUP FOR SYRIA: East Hoathly and Halland Village of Sanctuary invites you to join us on Saturday January 30 in the village hall for a lunch of fresh home-made soup and breads between 12.30pm and 2pm. Lunch is free, but please bring along a donation for the cause and find out what can be done locally for those desperate enough to walk across Europe in winter. At about 1pm there will be a verbal update on what Village of Sanctuary has done so far, followed by a short talk about her experiences as a serial volunteer in Calais and Lesbos by Marcie Clarke of Eastbourne Refugee Support. Everyone, of all ages, are welcome.

DEFIBRILATION COURSE: A free awareness course for Defibrillation and CPR for residents of East Hoathly with Halland will be held tomorrow, Saturday, from 9.30am to 12.30pm in East Hoathly Village Hall. If you would like to attend the above one-off session please contact Ann Newton, preferably by email [email protected] to book a place on a first come first serve basis. You will receive a certificate at of the session, with many thanks to Freedom
