General manager Amanda Ribbins said: "We found it really early this morning and there was a nice big hole in the roof of the members' building.

"The main thing is no one was hurt.

"We have got a great team of tree surgeons who arrived at 8.30 this morning and it will take them about eight hours. It's an enormous tree. Then we have got a roofer coming later to put a temporary roof up.

"Thank heavens for really great services.

"They have effectively dropped everything and come rushing to our aid. Without them we would be in a pickle with Storm Dennis coming in."

The message to club members is that the club house is secure and everything will carry on 'business as usual'.
