Farm Diary by Gwyn Jones

The fine weather of last week continues, absolutely perfect for calving cows and newborn calves.

We have applied a little fertiliser to our silage fields to see if a third cut of silage can be persuaded to appear before winter arrives.

We have now fed a third of our grass silage to the cows and another cut would be quite useful in order to replenish stocks.

We have enough maize silage for another two weeks or so; enough to see us through, as the new crop will be clamped by then.
