Mrs Down's Diary

Last week we moved the ewes to eat fresh grass as they had eaten up the field they were in.

Apart from ensuring there are enough of us around to round up independent minded ewes does not present many major problems.

The ewes know the game. They are fed from a bag on a daily basis ( whether they need it or not) to ensure that they always associate the bag with their shepherd. That way a brisk shake of a feed bag makes sure you have a devoted bunch of sheep ready to follow you to the ends of the earth. Or along the lane anyway.
