Nature notes with Richard Williamson

A quarter of a billion British Easter eggs this year will not have any chocolate on them. It will be illegal to buy or sell them too.

Some will weigh one gramme, others 300 grammes. Some are white, some nearly black, some brown , some green. Some willl be round, some elongated, some rough, some smooth. Birds' eggs are beautiful, even hen's eggs fill us full of desire as we sit down to breakfast.

I am talking of course of the quarter of a billion wild birds' eggs which are and will be laid in our countryside over the spring and summer.
