CHRISTMAS FAIR: Etchingham Primary School is holding a Christmas Fair at the school at Parsonage Croft tomorrow (Saturday), noon to 3pm. Lots of stalls with festive items and gift ideas and you will not go hungry as there will be barbecue, soup, mulled wine, cakes and tea and coffee.

VILLAGE WALKS: A few years ago the Parish Council produced some leaflets detailing walks around the village, these have not been available for a few years. Three of the leaflets have now been updated and are now available to download from the village website. You will find the details on this page http://www.etchinghamvillage.co.uk/village-walks

CHRISTMAS EVENTS: Are you organising Christmas events, get the details to me as soon as possible so that I can put the details in this column. Also make sure you send the details to [email protected] so the details can be included on the village website.

QUEEN’S GARDEN: Some of the play equipment in Queen’s Garden remains fenced off, following a recent safety inspection. We are waiting on quotations for repair by the company that installed the equipment, we hope it will not be out of use for too long, but this will depend on how much work is required the costs and how quickly repairs can be put in place.

LIONS CLUB: Battle and Villages Lions Club engage with their local communities providing a service to improve the quality of life for many. The club is part of Lions Clubs International which is the worlds’ largest service club.

During the year they raise money by doing the following: Children in Need Quiz at Ninfield Memorial Hall. Opera Evening. Easter- Egg and Chocolate Father Christmas draw. Go Karting for LIBRA (Lions International Blood Appeal). China Smashes – plus many other events. All monies raised from these events goes straight to charity, nothing is deducted for administration. As Etchingham is part of the club area you are invited to come along to one of the monthly meetings to see what they do and perhaps become a member of this very worthwhile Club. REPORTING PROBLEMS: If you find things in the village that need repair or attention, report them to the Parish Council so they can be dealt with. If you have internet access it is easy for you to report a lot of issues such as repairs needed to roads, pavements and verges etc. on line at Fix My Street www.fixmystreet.com. This often means the problem is reported a lot quicker because you can report it as soon as you see the problem and not wait until you are able to contact someone from the Council. Go to the website and enter a postcode near to the problem you want to report, you will then see recently reported issues in the locality and can check if someone else has already reported the problem. You can report the details of the problem and pinpoint it on the map, if you have photos you can add those as well. As soon as it is registered on the site the details are sent to the Council responsible for fixing, you can then go to the website later to check the progress of your report. Please also inform the Parish Council that you have reported the issue by contacting the Clerk and/or the Councillor who has that item in their portfolio.
