Falling numbers hit farmers' market

ORGANISERS have cut Bexhill Farmers' Market's monthly schedule by half due to dwindling interest.

Cllr Stuart Wood, who founded the scheme, recently announced the market was dropping its meeting on the second Thursday of each month, meaning it will come to Bexhill for just one day a month - on the fourth Thursday.

Stalls from the second Thursday will join with those who set up in Parkhurst Hall, on the fourth Thursday.

Cllr Wood said: "We are back to where we were eight years ago when we started. One day a month, in one location.

"But where we were getting some stalls one one day and some on another, we have decided to join those together, so that should give us a boost and the remaining day will be packed with offerings of local produce."

The Little Common version of Bexhill Farmers' Market was forced to close last year.

'¢ The next meeting of Bexhill Farmer's Market is on Thursday, July 22, in Parkhurst Hall, Parkhurst Road, from 9am-12noon. Expect meats, cheeses, preserves, honey, and local goods.
