Felpham's parish plan talks begin

Community-minded residents began last night (Wednesday, November 19) to plan the future of Felpham.

Eight of them held their first steering group meeting to start the preparations for a plan for the parish.

The initial session was held just ten days after the idea of a community plan to document how local people want to see the area in the decades to come was backed at a public meeting.

Felpham Parish Council chairman Cllr Paul English said: "The outcome was a credit to Felpham.

"The meeting was a success and the first steps to create a vision for Felpham within a community plan are now under way."

Cllr English welcomed the 26 people who represented various businesses and organisations around the parish at last Monday's public meeting.

Mark McTaggart, of Action in Rural Sussex, spoke to those present about the benefits of a community-led plan. But he also spelled out the amount of hard work needed to create one.

He said active involvement of residents meant that more ideas would come through than if the parish council acted alone.
