Festive light show's £4,520

A CHRISTMAS lights extravaganza has raised £4,520 for the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Sick Children in Brighton.

Throughout December the Burnage family and their neighbours in Malines Avenue, Peacehaven, adorned their houses with lights and models of children's cartoon characters. These included Thomas the Tank Engine, Bob the Builder and Monsters Inc.

Thousands of visitors flocked to the dazzling displays and donated money for the worthy cause.

Other neighbours were so impressed they have asked to take part in the next festive display. With their help it would become even bigger and better, said organiser James Burnage.

'With new neighbours wishing to get involved we are making provisional plans to develop the event from being a localised display into a true community event with even broader appeal.'

Since the family started the displays more than five years ago 14,500 has been raised for charity.

Mr Burnage would like to hear from businesses or people who can offer materials or spare some time to help create the displays.
