Fighting Roads Bid

RESIDENTS of an Angmering housing estate have called on the parish council to back them in a new battle against developers.

People living on The Dell estate have fought a series of moves by housebuilders to link their roads to the new Bramley Green development of 600 homes, off Roundstone Lane.

Now Rustington-based developer Hargreaves has made a fresh bid to extend Foxdale Drive, giving access to 28 houses it is building as part of Bramley Green.

Several residents of The Dell lobbied last week's parish council meeting for support against the Hargreaves' planning application.

One, Roy Twitchen, told the meeting: "Hargreaves, along with the other developers, signed an agreement that they would all use Roundstone Lane for access.

"Ever since Hargreaves signed, they have tried to get out of it and come through Mill Road and Foxdale Drive."

Parish councillors have previously raised no objections to linking the new estate's roads through The Dell, believing this would integrate Bramley Green with the rest of the village.

But parish council planning chairman Richard Sampey said it would be wrong to comment on the latest application by Hargreaves before it had been discussed by the committee.

"We are very well aware of your concerns. We will certainly take them into consideration," he added.

Parish council chairman John King told the residents: "If we are not happy with this application, we will object to it."
