FLOOD PROTEST LETTERS HANDED IN

Campaigners for better flood defences were in London yesterday to deliver protest letters to the Chancellor of the Exchequer.

A party from Lewes went to the Chancellor's official residence at 11 Downing Street.

The letters, calling for the Treasury to make more money available for flood defences across thecountry, were written by people in the Lewes area at the beginning of the year.

The campaign was co-ordinated by the Lewes Flood Action Group and supported by the Sussex Express.

Lewes MP Norman Baker joined the protesters in the march up Downing Street.
