Focus on Senlac Scouts

CENTENARY CAMPS Throughout Senlac District Centenary Camps have taken place to celebrate Scouting's Centenary.

The emphasis has been on 'family camping' with parents and grandparents sharing in the fun and experiencing the range of activities on offer. Pioneering, Bazooka Making, Rope Making, Kite Flying, Making a Night Light, Wide Games, Obstacle Courses, Circus Skills, Cooking (toasting marshmallows), Making Bread, Build Water Rockets, Build Hawaiian Oven, Dutch Arrows, Stone Painting, Boomerangs, Whizzers, Frisbee Target Shooting; if at Martlets Jamboree: Water Slide, Mountain Biking, Rifle Shooting, Rafting and Sailing. Scouting is certainly FUN for Everyone!

SHOUTING FOR SCOUTING APPROACHES '“ 15-9-07

Once Summer holidays end the entire District will appear on South Lawns, Upper Colonnade, De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill, on Saturday, 15th September. Throughout the day Scouting's Showcase will demonstrate and illustrate numerous activities which Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts and Explorer Scouts participate in. Air Scouts (air navigation and air knowledge), Sea Scouts, (Canoeing and Dinghy Sailing), Public Relations Roadshow, Kites (all shapes, patterns and sizes), Survival, Weather, Global, First Aid, Pioneering, Mapping and Compass, Outdoor, Discovery, Environment, Creative, Global, Caring and numerous interests to demonstrate the diversity of Scouting. 9TH BEXHILL SCOUT GROUP ADVANCES FORWARD

In true Scouting spirit the Group (all Sections) have survived and are totally active as interest, public support and commitment by leaders and parents through the Regeneration Committee continue to seek funding as preliminary planning develops and progresses, hopefully to point of rebuild once design and plans are approved. Raising more than 20,000 since April is a 'community success' which has touched the 'hearts of all' - Thank You Bexhill!

SENLAC DISTRICT CUB SCOUTS - DC's TROPHY

Five teams of Cub Scouts (8 '“ 11 years-old), entered in competitive spirit for the DC's Trophy, held at Kiteye District Training Ground. Lots were drawn for area to set-up individual campsites. The independent judges were required to observe Scouting and technical skills; also tent pitching, teamwork, leadership and health and safety awareness. The second stage of competition was lighting of fires, followed by cooking a sausage and making cup of tea or coffee. Timing was of the essence! All teams competed well and should record noteable achievements related to overall performance. Results were as follows: Winning Team were 3rd Bexhill (Darzee) Cub Pack (49 points). 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Teams followed closely behind with 48, 45, 44 and 43 points. To salute the 'eventual' 'rising from the ashes' of 9th Bexhill Group a new DC's Trophy was displayed - a magnificent wise owl!
