There are currently more than 100 players of mixed disability training with a coaching team led by Jonathan Haddock. The club trains at Bexhill College on the first and last Saturday of every month between 9.30-12.00am.

1066 Specials committee member Colin Taylor said: "The idea of this open day is to see if coaches and volunteers could come together and help the club, and do a bit of networking with the other schools and players - it is purely to promote the club especially now we have got the Charity status. "We are still looking for coaches and volunteers just to help with the kids - if anyone wants to get get in touch they can call me on 01424 210641.

"We will put them through their training - for instance we have here young Ben Elphick who is 15 and has just been put through his first coaching badge, and we have sponsored him to do that. We are trying to bring in new people - there is always some out there who might be willing to do a bit of coaching."

The 1066 Specials football club holds its AGM tomorrow at Bexhill College from 12.00midday, which will be attended by the Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex and 1066 board of trustees.
